Grrr My Motherboards Cooked !!!

Howdy all,
This is just a quick note letting you all know that I will not be blogging for a while, unfortunately I cooked the motherboard on my computer don't ask me how, it just happened Grrr .
Today has been a day of bad luck. Over the weekend I noticed a scratch on the lens of my big camera so I decided to go back to where I purchased it and see if they could polish it out, mmmm.. apparently the lens is coated with a layer of protectant and if you polish it off, the lens is useless. All they could suggest I do was replace the whole lens $400.00(Aud) No way not at the moment.
I then came home and decided to put some photos of Sharks Presentation ball to DVD, you know fancy transitions and music I picked the photos I wanted and before I knew it the computer had a fit and switched off. Three hours later I still couldn't get it to turn on so I decided to take it to the computer man I go to and he gave me the bad news. The Motherboard is cooked, I couldn't believe it, its not even 12 months old. Worst news is that, it has a motherboard in it that is way out dated and my computer doesn't suite any other type. My computer has been deemed totally useless and has to retire to the scrap heap. I feel so miserable at the moment as I have lost all my photos. I had heaps on it that I hadn't yet got around to backing up, Sharks Presentation Ball, A friends daughters ball, Photos from fathers day, hubby's birthday, photos from the 50th birthday party we went to last Saturday oh and so so many more.
I am sitting here wandering what else is going to happen as the old saying goes bad luck comes in threes and I have only had two so far.
I am at the moment sitting at our old, old computer that I actually usually don't put onto the internet, one reason is because it is 8 years old and is so slow and the second I cant risk anything happening to it as it has all our company bookwork on it, but I thought I would come on and do a quick post.
Anyways hope you all keep safe. Take Care

Oh that sucks! I was just talking to my dad about getting an external hard drive and backing everything up onto it in case my computer ever died. I would lose all my pictures of my son and family - it would be heartbreaking. I guess I better get to backing up!!!

Hi Melinda, Sorry to hear your lost all your photo's when your computer broke down.
Im commenting from a very old computer at moment as my puter also crashed, and to make matter worse I asked my computer man last week about getting external hard drive to save my photo's to. and bingo crashed before i had time to save, so my puter now in Melbourne
and Joe thinks he will be able to save my pics to new hard drive, keeping my fingers crossed.

Yay for the external drive, Melinda. As you know, I"ve had one for awhile, and it is the best thing I've ever bought ... makes me feel more secure, somehow LOL.
Now you just gotta remember to use it regularly to back up your stuff.
Take care, hugs, Connie xx
